Announcing our 2017 Earth Day Student Battery Recycling Challenge!

Announcing Battery Giant of Pittsburgh’s 2017 Earth Day Student Battery Recycling Challenge. New student prize this year!  The student that leads a recycling effort that collects the most batteries by weight chooses either Orbitwheel skates or a fire HD8 tablet!  The other prize goes to the second place student.

Orbitwheel skates take lots and lots of practice!

Each student or parent recycling batteries at Battery Giant in Cranberry from April 1 to Earth Day April 22 also gets to enter their school in a drawing for $300 to be donated to your school. The more students that come and recycle batteries from a school, the better chance a school has of winning.  Any school from preschool through high school can be entered into the drawing. Every student recycling batteries gets a coupon for a free cone from The Meadows Frozen Custard of Cranberry Township  and a coupon from Fun Fore All.

Tyler Broecher recycling recycled 895 lbs of batteries in the 2016 competition!

Parker Budney recycled recycled 676 lbs of batteries in the 2016 competition!

1) Visits once a week or with over 100 lb of batteries will earn an entry into the school raffle.

2) Organized school groups may enter directly (on behalf of the school rather than a student).  They get 1 entry into the school raffle for every 100 lb of batteries recycled collectively by the school.  Note that if 100 students bring in 1 lb each, you get 100 entries.

3) No purchase necessary to enter.  However, you do have to recycle batteries.

4) We reserve the right to change the rules at any time.

4) Any cosponsors  may place their own restrictions on their recycling incentives.

5) It is ok to recycle multiple times.  But please take coupons from our partners only once.

Please sort all batteries into two bags or containers – non-rechargeable (primary) batteries and rechargeable (secondary) batteries.  Also, please tape the contacts of any batteries over 9 volts with clear tape.
